Chapter 33 - The Last Facility
Claire revealed the location of Continuity's central server.
A facility beneath an offshore research platform.
Saint Orison had been only one branch.
Black Harbor had been another.
The real command center was beneath the Atlantic.
Daniel, Anna, Lily, Marcus, and Claire prepared to enter.
Federal agents would follow once the system was compromised.
They reached the platform at midnight.
The ocean was violent.
The facility appeared abandoned.
Inside, thousands of servers hummed.
Daniel looked at Lily.
“You stay behind me.”
She smiled.
“Dad.”
“What?”
“I can handle myself.”
He almost smiled.
“You sound like your mother.”
Anna laughed softly.
For one brief moment, they were a family again.
Then the doors locked.
A voice filled the facility.
“Welcome home, Daniel.”
Victor Hale appeared on the main screen.
“You were always meant to return.”
Daniel stepped forward.
“This ends tonight.”
Victor smiled.
“No.”
