Chapter 27 - Lily Wakes
Lily opened her eyes inside the moving vehicle.
Claire sat beside her.
“You're awake.”
Lily tried to move.
Claire stopped her.
“Don't.”
Lily looked around.
“Where's my father?”
Claire hesitated.
“Coming.”
Lily's eyes narrowed.
“You're Claire.”
Claire froze.
“You remember me?”
Lily nodded.
“I remember everything.”
Claire looked terrified.
“That shouldn't be possible.”
Lily whispered:
“You taught me how to forget.”
Claire stared.
“And you taught me how to remember.”
The vehicle stopped.
The rear door opened.
Marcus stood outside.
Lily looked at him.
“Where's Dad?”
Marcus answered:
“Looking for the archive.”
“Then take me to him.”
“You're not strong enough.”
Lily smiled faintly.
“You still don't understand.”
“What?”
“I know where the archive is.”
Marcus froze.
Lily pointed toward the road.
“Turn around.”
“Why?”
“Because the archive isn't in the house.”
Marcus stared.
“Where is it?”
