Chapter 31 - The Broadcast

The archive was scheduled for release.
But before they could upload it, every device in the house shut down.
Claire looked at the screen.
“Someone has taken control.”
Marcus stepped forward.
“Who?”
A face appeared.
Victor Hale.
He was supposed to be under federal custody.
Yet he was smiling.
“You thought this was over?”
Daniel stared.
“How?”
Victor laughed.
“Continuity was never one organization.”
The screen filled with names.
Thousands.
“It's a structure.”
Victor continued.
“Remove one layer, another replaces it.”
Lily stepped toward the screen.
“Then we'll remove all of them.”
Victor smiled.
“You don't understand what your father is.”
Daniel stiffened.
Victor continued.
“Daniel Walker was the original Sentinel prototype.”
Silence.
“You weren't merely conditioned.”
“You were designed.”
Anna shook her head.
“That's not true.”
Victor smiled.
“Ask him about the night his father died.”
Daniel's memories flashed.
A room.
Blood.
His father's hand.
A younger Daniel screaming.
Then nothing.
Victor's final words came through.
“Your father didn't die protecting you.”
May you like
“He died because you killed him.”
The screen went black.
