Chapter 28 - The Memory Key
Lily explained.
When she was six, Claire's machine didn't simply erase memories.
It copied them.
Lily's mind had absorbed the information.
She had spent years believing she was dreaming.
Faces.
Numbers.
Locations.
Names.
Now everything was returning.
Claire listened in disbelief.
“You've been carrying the archive.”
Lily nodded.
“That's why Continuity wanted me.”
Marcus asked:
“Can you access it?”
“Yes.”
“How?”
“Dad.”
Marcus frowned.
“What about him?”
“He has the other half.”
Daniel's childhood conditioning had stored the encryption key.
Neither Daniel nor Lily could access the archive alone.
Together, they could unlock it.
Claire looked frightened.
“If you do that, every secret Continuity ever buried becomes public.”
Lily looked at her.
“Good.”
Claire whispered:
“They'll come after you.”
“They already did.”
The vehicle turned.
In the distance, Daniel's car appeared.
Father and daughter finally saw each other.
Daniel ran toward Lily.
He held her tightly.
“I thought I lost you.”
Lily whispered:
“You didn't.”
She looked over his shoulder.
“Dad.”

“We have to go home.”
