Chapter 37 - THE DOOR

Two months passed.
Winter arrived.
One evening, someone knocked on the Carter family's door.
Daniel opened it.
An older woman stood outside.
Gray hair.
Tired eyes.
A familiar smile.
Daniel couldn't breathe.
“Mom?”
Sarah began crying.
“My boy.”
Daniel pulled her into his arms.
Melissa stood behind him.
Sarah looked at her.
“You must be Melissa.”
Melissa smiled.
“I am.”
Sarah hugged her.
Then she saw Noah.
Her expression changed.
“And this is my grandson.”
Noah looked at her carefully.
“Grandma?”
Sarah laughed through tears.
“Yes.”
May you like
Noah hugged her.
For the first time in decades, Sarah Carter came home.
