Chapter 25 - THE WIFE WHO NEVER LEFT

Daniel couldn't move.

Melissa stepped into the room.

For a moment, neither spoke.

Then Daniel crossed the distance between them.

He stopped inches away.

“You're alive.”

Melissa nodded.

“I am.”

“Why didn't you come home?”

“I tried.”

“Why didn't you tell me?”

“Because they threatened Noah.”

Daniel's voice broke.

“I thought you were dead.”

“I know.”

He looked at her.

“You let me grieve you.”

Tears filled Melissa's eyes.

“I watched you.”

“From where?”

“Everywhere.”

Daniel almost laughed from disbelief.

“All those years?”

“Not years.”

She shook her head.

“Months.”

Daniel frowned.

“Months?”

Melissa looked toward Jonathan.

“I was never gone for years.”

Jonathan's expression hardened.

Melissa continued:

“I escaped two weeks after the crash.”

Daniel stared.

“Then why wait?”

“Because I needed proof.”

She handed Claire a drive.

“Everything.”

Bellhaven records.

Bank transfers.

Medical files.

Names.

Videos.

Everything.

Claire looked at the files.

“This is enough to destroy the entire organization.”

Melissa nodded.

“That was the plan.”

Jonathan suddenly moved.

Two agents tackled him.

He fought desperately.

For the first time, his calm disappeared.

“You don't understand!”

Melissa looked at him.

“No.”

She took Daniel's hand.

“We understand perfectly.”

Jonathan shouted:

“You'll regret opening that archive!”

Melissa looked at the files.

“No.”

May you like

She whispered:

“You should regret building it.”
