Chapter 28 - THE CHILD'S MEMORY

Noah remembered a man.

Not Jonathan.

Someone else.

A man who had visited the room.

Noah described him.

Gray hair.

Black glasses.

A silver watch.

Daniel recognized the watch.

Peter.

Daniel froze.

“Peter?”

Melissa looked shocked.

“No.”

Claire pulled up Peter's photographs.

Noah shook his head.

“Not him.”

“Then who?”

Noah pointed at the picture.

“His friend.”

Claire searched Bellhaven records.

One name appeared repeatedly beside Peter.

Dr. Marcus Reed.

A retired neurologist.

Officially dead.

But financial records showed payments to him until three months earlier.

They found his address.

Empty.

Except for a handwritten note.

YOU ARE TOO LATE.

Daniel turned it over.

A second message appeared.

THE ARCHIVE WAS NEVER THE GOAL.

Melissa whispered:

“What was?”

The answer was waiting in the final line.

NOAH WAS.
