Evelyn was brought into the room.
She looked at Melissa's birth record.
Then at Daniel.
“It was supposed to remain buried.”
Daniel stepped toward her.
“You knew Melissa was alive.”
“Yes.”
“You knew she was being hunted.”
“Yes.”
“Then why did you pretend to help me?”
Evelyn began crying.
“Because I was trying to protect her.”
Daniel shook his head.
“You manipulated me.”
“I had no choice.”
“You always had a choice.”
Evelyn looked toward Jonathan.
“He controlled everything.”
Jonathan laughed.
“You volunteered.”
Evelyn turned toward him.
“You threatened my daughter.”
“And you agreed.”
Daniel stared at them.
The pieces finally connected.
Evelyn had been forced to work with Jonathan.
Margaret had helped Melissa disappear.
Henry had hidden the archive.
Peter had protected the legal records.
And Jonathan had manipulated all of them.
But one question remained.
“Where is Melissa?”
Nobody answered.
Then Noah appeared at the doorway.
“Mommy.”
Daniel turned.
Noah was staring behind Jonathan.
Everyone followed his gaze.
A hidden door stood open.
And someone was standing inside.
A woman.
Brown hair.
Blue eyes.
