Chapter 36 - THE LETTER
Three weeks later, a letter arrived.
No return address.
Daniel almost threw it away.
Then he saw the handwriting.
His mother's.
He opened it.
My son,
If you're reading this, then Bellhaven has finally fallen.
Daniel's hands trembled.
The letter explained that Sarah had disappeared voluntarily.
She had been the first person to discover Jonathan's plans.
She had gone underground to protect Daniel.
She had watched him from a distance.
She had never contacted him because Bellhaven threatened to kill him if she did.
The final paragraph read:
I am alive.
But I will not return unless you want me to.
Daniel stared at the sentence.
Melissa looked at him.
“What will you do?”
Daniel thought about it.

Then he wrote one line.
COME HOME.
