Former students of Elias began posting their own messages.
A firefighter said Elias had taught him to remain calm during a warehouse collapse.
A paramedic described how Elias’s training helped her work through a mass-casualty emergency.
A former Marine named Thomas Reed recorded a short video.
“Elias Ward never taught us to chase fights,” Thomas said. “He taught us to bring people home.”
Other veterans repeated the message.
They did not boast about violence.
They spoke about patience, responsibility and protecting others.
Ryan’s attempt to humiliate Elias began to fail.
At Vanguard, younger fighters watched the videos between training sessions.
One asked Calvin why Ryan seemed so desperate to fight a fifty-five-year-old man.
Calvin ordered everyone to put away their phones.
That evening, Ryan punched a locker door and blamed Claire.
“She’s turning them against me.”
Calvin lowered his voice.
“You are turning them against you.”
Ryan stepped toward him.
For years, Calvin had encouraged Ryan’s arrogance because arrogance sold tickets.
Now he saw something different in the fighter’s eyes.
