Claire played the second recording.
Static.
Then Thomas spoke.
“If they tell you Linda ordered my death, believe them.”
Margaret frowned.
“But don't believe everything else.”
A woman's voice appeared.
Margaret recognized it.
Emily.
Her daughter.
“Thomas, what do I do?”
Margaret froze.
Thomas answered:
“Nothing until your mother knows the truth.”
Emily cried.
“But Ryan knows.”
Thomas said:
“Then you are both in danger.”
The recording ended.
Margaret looked at Claire.
“Emily knew?”
Claire nodded.
“Apparently.”
Arthur looked confused.
“Why would Emily keep this from Margaret?”
Claire shook her head.
“I don't know.”
Then Margaret noticed the timestamp.
December 23.
One day before Christmas.
She whispered:
“Emily wasn't helping Ryan.”

Claire looked at her.
“She was helping Thomas.”
