Chapter 26 - Linda's Confession
Linda entered slowly.
Ryan stayed behind her.
Margaret stared at the woman who had once called her family.
“You killed Thomas.”
Linda smiled sadly.
“I didn't kill him.”
“You paid someone to silence him.”
“Yes.”
Arthur looked devastated.
“Why?”
Linda lowered the weapon.
“Because Thomas knew what Ryan was.”
Margaret looked at her son.
Ryan said nothing.
Linda continued.
“Ryan was never supposed to inherit the trust.”
Margaret frowned.
“What?”
“The trust required a direct heir.”
Margaret's eyes widened.
“And Emily?”
Linda shook her head.
“Emily was never the heir.”
Margaret felt the room spin.
“Then who?”
Linda looked at Claire.
“Her.”
Claire stepped forward.
“Why?”
Linda smiled.
“Because Claire was born first.”
Margaret stared.
“What?”
Linda's voice softened.
“Your first daughter was the legal heir.”
Claire looked at Margaret.
“Which means the entire house was always mine.”
