Ethan bought a small house outside the city.
No hidden rooms.
No secret basement.
No locked cabinets.
Rachel painted the kitchen herself.
Lily chose the bedroom.
Rebecca visited often.
Evelyn came too.
For the first time, Rachel's family didn't feel like a puzzle.
It felt ordinary.
One evening Ethan found Rachel staring at the old photograph.
