The archive was recovered from a former private clinic.
Most files had been destroyed.
One survived.

Female.
Born twelve months after Rachel.
Same blood type.
Similar physical characteristics.
Similar family history.
The file contained one photograph.
A young woman.
Alive.
Her name was Rebecca Mercer.
Rachel stared at the photograph.
“She looks like me.”
Evelyn nodded.
“She was supposed to replace you.”
Ethan's jaw tightened.
“Why?”
“Because Marlene believed Rachel had become uncontrollable.”
Rachel whispered:
“Me.”
“Yes.”
Evelyn explained that Rebecca had been raised under another identity.
She had never known Rachel existed.
She had simply been prepared to fill a role.
Rachel looked sick.
“Where is she?”
Claire searched the database.
A current address appeared.
A small town in Oregon.
Then another alert appeared.
