The tape contained audio from his final night.
Margaret accused him of changing the trust.
Richard told her the company had become a machine for hiding Samuel’s crimes.
Then Samuel entered the room.
“You were supposed to remain dead,” Richard said.
“I did. It was very profitable.”
The brothers argued.
Richard threatened to expose the offshore accounts and Emma’s illegal placement.
A blow followed.
Margaret screamed.
The recording continued with Samuel ordering Arthur Vale to call a private physician instead of an ambulance.
Richard was still breathing.
For forty-seven minutes, no one helped him.
By the time emergency services arrived, he was dead.
Tessa sank against the wall.
“Mother knew.”
“Your mother helped construct the lie,” Rose said.
Daniel copied the recordings onto Nora’s secure server.
The archive had a second exit leading into the estate wine cellar. They carried Nathan through it.
Police and paramedics were waiting outside.
Samuel had escaped with the trust.
But Daniel no longer needed the original to destroy him.
He released Richard’s final recording to the board, the police and three national newspapers.
Before midnight, Mercer Holdings shares were frozen.
Arthur Vale was arrested at the airport.
Margaret was charged with conspiracy and obstruction.
Samuel disappeared.
The following morning, Daniel received one final photograph.
Samuel stood beside Claire.
The message beneath it read:
May you like
YOU EXPOSED THE FAMILY.
NOW WATCH IT END.
