Chapter 26 - The Arrest
Senator Hale was arrested outside his office.
There were cameras everywhere.
Reporters shouted questions.
He refused to answer.
Then Caroline stepped forward.
Hale looked directly at her.
“You don't understand what you're doing.”
Caroline remained calm.
“I understand exactly what I'm doing.”
“You'll destroy everything your father built.”
“No.”
She shook her head.
“You destroyed it yourself.”
Hale smiled coldly.
“You think this ends with me?”
Caroline said nothing.
Hale leaned closer.
“There are people above me.”
Travis stepped between them.
“Save it for the investigators.”

For the first time in twenty-three years, Caroline felt the weight on her shoulders begin to lift.
