Chapter 23 - Project HomecomingProject Homecoming had been created before Clara’s wedding.

Evelyn designed it as a contingency if Victor ever attempted to seize Aurora openly.
Clara had activated it at JFK without knowing its full scope.
Now she rewrote it.
No secret arrests.
No private exchanges.
No disappearing people.
Everything documented.
The dual-heir archive was copied under court supervision to multiple jurisdictions.
Victim identities remained sealed.
Criminal evidence was separated.
Independent monitors controlled release.
Then Evelyn sent one message through her continuity channel.
ARCHIVE TRANSFER AUTHORIZED.
FINAL PHYSICAL CUSTODY REQUIRED.
LOCATION: HALE FOUNDATION.
Victor answered in six minutes.
He did not trust Evelyn.
He demanded Clara and Sienna present.
Clara agreed.
Daniel protested.
Clara listened.
Then still agreed.
Not because she wanted revenge.
Because they needed Victor physically connected to the network’s final authentication sequence.
But this time, everyone knew.
Federal agencies.
Judges.
Press representatives outside the perimeter.
International observers.
No hidden sacrifice.
No one person carrying the burden.
Sienna stood beside Clara in the empty foundation atrium.
“You know he will try to make us choose.”
“Yes.”
“Which of us gets the money.”
“Yes.”
“Which of us is the real Hale.”
“Yes.”
“You have an answer?”
Clara looked at her.
“Yes.”
Sienna waited.
“We both leave.”
Sienna’s face changed.
Not because of the money.
Because no one had ever framed freedom that way for her.
At 8:14 p.m., a black sedan arrived.
Victor Dane stepped out.
Older.
Thin.
Still elegant.
No dramatic army.
Only one attorney.
And Julian.
The real one.
Maybe.
Clara did not care about the label anymore.
She cared whether the man was there by choice.
His hands were uncuffed.
He looked at her.
Not hopeful.
Not pleading.
Just exhausted.
Victor smiled.
“Clara.”
She said nothing.
“Sienna.”
Sienna’s jaw tightened.
Victor entered the atrium.
Evelyn waited beside the archive terminal.
Victor looked at her.
“You got old.”
“So did you.”
He smiled.
“Not enough.”
Clara pointed toward Julian.
“Why is he here?”
“Collateral.”
Julian spoke.
“No.”
Victor turned slightly.
Julian continued.
“I came because you said you would kill Sienna if I didn’t.”
Victor’s smile vanished.
Clara almost admired the timing.
Every microphone captured it.
Victor looked toward the cameras.
Then at Evelyn.
“You turned this into theater.”
Evelyn replied:
“No.”
May you like
Clara stepped forward.
“We turned it into evidence.”
