Chapter 37 - Crown ZeroThe coordinates led to international waters beyond Iceland.

Sofia could not authorize an official operation without clearer evidence, but she arranged for Mara and Adrian to travel aboard a privately contracted research ship.
Elise insisted on joining them.
Patricia stayed behind to protect the remaining estate records.
Before departure, Celeste gave Mara Lillian’s dark blue pen.
“She wanted you to have it.”
Inside the pen was a rolled strip of film containing a handwritten sequence of numbers.
Adrian recognized them as maritime radio frequencies.
On the second night, they received a transmission.
Margaret’s voice spoke through static.
“Do not approach Crown Zero from the east. Agnes controls the automated defenses.”
“Why are you aboard?” Mara asked.
“To keep the final registry closed.”
“You could have told us that before leaving.”
“No one followed Eleanor’s plans unless they believed they had discovered them alone.”
“You sound like her.”
Margaret went silent.
Then she said, “That is what frightens me.”
At dawn, Crown Zero appeared through the fog.
It was larger than the satellite image suggested—a converted ocean liner with no national flag.
Its upper decks resembled a hotel.
Every balcony door bore a brass room number.
Hundreds of people stood silently behind the glass.
“Are they prisoners?” Adrian asked.
Elise studied them through binoculars.
“Some may not know which name they entered under.”
Crown Zero transmitted an invitation.
OWNER MARA SUTTON — RESERVATION CONFIRMED
A boarding bridge extended automatically.
Only Mara’s biometric profile could open it.
Sofia’s voice came through the encrypted radio.
“We have naval support four hours away. Do not board.”
Then another transmission interrupted her.
Patricia appeared on the screen.
She was sitting in the Azure Crown restaurant.
Frederick stood behind her.
“Mara,” Patricia said carefully, “they found the reservation Lillian created for me.”
Frederick placed a weapon against her shoulder.
“Board the ship,” he ordered, “or your cousin becomes Eleanor.”
The screen changed.
A legal succession document was counting down.
In twenty minutes, Patricia’s identity would be erased and replaced with Eleanor Sutton’s continuity profile.
Mara stepped onto the boarding bridge.
Adrian followed.
Elise caught his arm.
“The invitation says one owner.”
The bridge began retracting.
Mara crossed alone.
The door closed behind her.

A woman’s voice welcomed her aboard.
It was her own.
