Chapter 25 - The Seventh KeyCeleste claimed Helena had raised her in a succession of private schools under different surnames.

She had never been told who her father was.
Three weeks earlier, Helena sent her a message instructing her to enter the Azure Crown only if Eleanor died.
“Why give you the seventh key?” Mara asked.
“Because my blood opens part of the registry.”
Adrian stared at her.
“Are we related?”
Celeste removed a folded laboratory report.
The DNA comparison had been performed five years earlier.
Helena was listed as Celeste’s biological mother.
The father’s name was concealed, but one marker suggested close relation to the Sutton line.
Patricia stepped backward.
“You could be Mara’s sister.”
“Or cousin,” Celeste said. “Helena never answered.”
Mara did not trust her timing, her evidence or the calm way she had entered a crime scene.
But the key was genuine.
When placed beside Crown One, both keys emitted a faint blue light.
Adrian received a message from the resort registry.
Two heirs recognized. Five remain unresolved.
Celeste saw the screen.
“Helena told me the seven keys were not assigned to seven people.”
“What were they assigned to?”
“Seven versions of the truth.”
She explained that the offshore registry required witnesses representing each founding role: blood, law, security, medicine, finance, memory and consent.
Mara possessed blood.
Charles controlled finance.
Helena represented security.
Adrian unknowingly carried consent because Helena had registered him as the person capable of authorizing her identity changes.
Elise carried memory.
Dr. Trent represented medicine.
The final role—law—belonged to someone inside the Sutton family.
“Raymond?” Patricia asked.
Celeste shook her head.
“Eleanor never trusted him.”
Daniel suddenly looked ill.
Mara turned toward him.
“What did Grandmother make you sign?”
Daniel sat down.
“An oath when I was sixteen. She called it a family scholarship agreement.”
“Did you read it?”
“No.”
Celeste looked at him.
“You are the legal witness.”
The registry notification changed.
Five roles located.
Two roles approaching the marina.
Mara’s phone rang.
Charles spoke without greeting.
“Bring all three keys.”
“You said one.”
“The reservation has changed.”
“Let me speak to the prisoner.”
A woman screamed in the background.

Then Charles said:
“You have spent your life asking what happened to your mother. By sunset, you may have to choose which one dies.”
