Chapter 7 - THE BALLROOM

The ballroom glittered like another world.
Crystal chandeliers.
Marble columns.
Photographers.
Wealthy guests.
Emma entered slowly.
Every camera turned toward her.
Her white gown flowed around her.
Her pregnancy was impossible to hide.
Whispers spread.
Then Julian saw her.
His face changed.
Chloe stood beside him.
Margaret nearly dropped her glass.
Julian walked toward Emma.
“What are you doing here?”
Emma looked at him.
“I'm attending the event.”
“You can't be serious.”
Julian looked at her stomach.
“You're pregnant.”
Emma nodded.
“With twins.”
His expression broke.
“That isn't possible.”
Emma's voice was calm.
“Apparently it is.”
Julian looked at Garrison.
“You.”
Garrison said nothing.
Julian laughed.
“You expect me to believe this?”
Emma answered:
“You don't have to believe anything.”
Then Julian noticed the guests.
They weren't watching Emma anymore.
They were watching Garrison.
An older man approached.
“Mr. Blackwood.”
Julian frowned.
The name echoed through his mind.
He remembered his father's old files.
He remembered the emblem.
He remembered a warning from years ago.
Never let Blackwood back into the room.
Julian's face drained.
“Who are you?”
Garrison looked at him.
“You already know.”
“No.”
May you like
Garrison stepped closer.
“You just don't want to remember.”
