Chapter 14 - THE ROOM BENEATH THE CLINIC

The clinic looked abandoned.
Dust covered the hallways.
Old equipment remained untouched.
Emma walked beside Garrison.
Every step echoed.
They reached a locked basement door.
Garrison opened it.
Inside was a narrow room filled with filing cabinets.
Emma's pulse quickened.
“These records…”
Garrison nodded.
“Original copies.”
They searched.
Minutes passed.
Then Emma found a drawer.
Her name was written on it.
She opened it.
Inside was a single envelope.
Not medical records.
A photograph.
Emma stared.
It showed her six years earlier.
Outside the clinic.
Standing beside Julian.
But someone else was visible in the background.
A man.
His face was blurred.
Emma looked at Garrison.
“Who is that?”
Garrison stared at the photograph.
His expression changed completely.
“You shouldn't have seen this.”
Emma's voice trembled.
“Who is he?”
Garrison didn't answer.
Suddenly footsteps echoed above them.
Garrison turned off the light.
Someone had entered the clinic.
Emma held her breath.
The footsteps approached.
One.
Two.
Three.
Then stopped outside the basement door.
A key entered the lock.
May you like
Garrison motioned for Emma to stay behind him.
The door began opening.
