Chapter 9 - The Bullet That Did Not Kill Daniel
Daniel survived and reached Julia's underground quarry safehouse with a bullet wound. Evelyn returned beside him, alive after the flood, carrying a waterproof case from S-1. It contained the missing twenty-nine percent of the copied data.
Adrian began transmitting against his will. The monitors identified Emma's fetus as Continuation Subject A-17 and announced that a retrieval team had been dispatched. Dr. Morgan stopped the transmission by giving him a name and helping him separate his own identity from Samuel's implanted memories.
Evelyn revealed that S-1's original name was Gabriel Vale. He was a copy grown from cells belonging to her brother, who had also been Samuel Morgan's half brother. S-1 carried Gabriel's memories and believed himself to be the rightful continuation of the Vale bloodline.
