Victoria Hayes had spent years protecting her son from consequences.

When Arthur was nineteen, he crashed his car after drinking at a party. The accident nearly killed him.

His mother sat beside his hospital bed for eleven days.

The surgeon explained that Arthur would survive but would never father a child naturally. Arthur was unconscious when the first conversation took place. Later, when he recovered, his mother told him only that the operation had been successful.

She planned to reveal the truth when he was stronger.

Then weeks became months.

Arthur returned to college, rebuilt his confidence, and never asked detailed questions. His mother convinced herself that silence was an act of love.

After Arthur married Victoria, the lie became more dangerous.

Victoria Hayes wanted grandchildren desperately. She watched Victoria carry the burden of their fertility problems while Arthur refused testing.

Days later, she contacted her son’s old hospital and requested the original records. Because she had been listed as his medical representative after the accident, the archive released a certified copy.

She brought the report to Victoria Thompson.

“I lied to him,” Arthur’s mother confessed. “But Brooke knows. I saw it in her face.”

Victoria explained that Brooke had been present when the fertility file arrived.

The two women finally understood the full deception.

Brooke had known that Arthur could not be the father before she announced her pregnancy.
