Chapter 29 - OLIVIA’S WEDDING

Seven years after prom night, Olivia stood in a white wedding dress.
Robert had been nervous all morning.
Sarah kept telling him to stop checking his tie.
Liam arrived carrying coffee.
“You look terrified.”
“My daughter is getting married.”
“She’s twenty-four.”
“She was five approximately yesterday.”
Olivia appeared behind them.
“Both of you stop.”
She was marrying Ethan Brooks.
The same Ethan Liam once investigated online.
Ethan had eventually learned about the background check.
He never let Liam forget it.
Before the ceremony Olivia found Liam alone near the garden.
“You okay?”
He smiled.
“Why wouldn’t I be?”
She looked at him knowingly.
Their history did not hurt anymore.
But important days sometimes made old memories visible.
“Prom feels like a hundred years ago,” she said.
“It does.”
“I thought that night ruined everything.”
“So did I.”
Olivia hugged him.
“It gave me a brother.”
Liam kissed her forehead.
“That was unbearably sentimental.”
“Don’t ruin it.”
At the ceremony Robert walked Olivia down the aisle.
Halfway there she stopped.
Everyone looked confused.
Olivia reached toward Liam.
“Come here.”
His eyes widened.
“Why?”
“Because I said so.”
He joined them.
Robert understood.
Father on one side.
Brother on the other.
Together they walked Olivia the rest of the way.
There were no secrets at the altar.
No hidden names.

No unexpected revelations.
Just a family choosing to stand where everyone could see them.
