Nathan offered full cooperation in exchange for reduced charges.
Liam was asked whether he supported the deal.
Everyone expected anger.
Instead he asked one question.
“Will everything become public record?”
Miriam nodded.
“Everything relevant.”
“Then I support it.”
Robert was surprised.
“You don’t want the maximum punishment?”
“I want people to know what happened.”
Nathan’s confession exposed decades of corruption.
Hospital executives.
Financial officers.
Private investigators.
Even officials who looked away.
Some were dead.
Others faced professional consequences.
The institution that once protected the Hale name now had to explain itself publicly.
Liam attended Nathan’s sentencing.
Nathan turned toward him.
“I suppose you’re satisfied.”
Liam shook his head.
“My mother is still dead.”
Nathan had no reply.
“You spent eighteen years thinking power meant controlling what people were allowed to know.”
Liam stood.
“You were wrong.”
Outside the courthouse reporters surrounded him.
He said only:
“This was never about revenge. It was about making sure the truth could not be buried again.”
Then he walked toward Robert.
Robert opened his arms uncertainly.
Liam hugged him.
No hesitation.
No distance.
Olivia started crying.
Sarah teased her.
“You cry at everything now.”
Olivia wiped her face.
“So does Dad.”
Robert protested.
