The case against Ethan grew rapidly.
Once Hale Meridian employees learned he had lost control, witnesses came forward from offices, warehouses, and subsidiaries across the country.
Accountants described altered records.
Executives revealed secret payments.

Samuel Ortiz gave investigators the original shipping documents from Indiana.
The betrayed member of Project Lantern was identified as a junior consultant who had accepted money from Ethan’s private security director. The consultant surrendered emails showing Ethan knew about the audit days before the gala.
Claire testified before a grand jury.
The experience terrified her, but Mara prepared her carefully. Liam waited outside every day, not as a physician or adviser, but as her brother.
Ethan’s lawyers attacked Claire’s memory and emotional health. They presented photographs of her attending parties and smiling beside her husband.
Claire answered calmly.
“A smile in a photograph does not prove safety.”
They displayed gifts Ethan purchased for her.
“A gift does not erase control.”
They referred to medical records describing anxiety.
“Fear is not incapacity.”
Independent doctors reviewed the records and confirmed that Ethan had repeatedly interfered with private medical interviews. Digital experts verified the audit files. Financial investigators traced millions of dollars into accounts controlled by Ethan and his associates.
The board released a public statement acknowledging its failure to provide proper oversight.
Claire insisted the statement include an apology to employees punished for reporting misconduct.
Hale Meridian’s stock initially fell, but the company survived. Claire refused pressure to hide the scandal.
“My mother did not build this company so powerful people could escape consequences,” she told the board. “We repair trust by telling the truth.”
Ethan faced charges related to fraud, obstruction, coercion, and the assault that brought Claire to the hospital. Several executives accepted plea agreements in exchange for testimony.
During the trial, Ethan maintained that Claire had invented everything to seize control.
The prosecution presented his own messages.
In one, Ethan instructed an employee to create a history of instability around Claire.
In another, he wrote that after the trust transferred, no one would care what she said.
The jury deliberated for less than a day.
They found him guilty on every major count.
