Chapter 8: The Last Heir

One year later, the trial ended.

Celeste was found guilty of fraud, forgery, and coercion. Damon received a lighter sentence because he cooperated, but he still had to answer for his part in framing Olivia.

When Olivia heard the verdict, she did not smile.

Arthur Reeves stood beside her outside the courthouse.

“Do you feel justice has been served?” he asked.

Olivia looked across the street.

Edmund was waiting by the car with Nora beside him. He was still weak, but he could now stand with a cane. His eyes met Olivia’s, full of apology and quiet hope.

“Yes,” Olivia said. “But not because they lost.”

“Then why?”

“Because everyone finally knows I was telling the truth.”

That was what she had wanted most.

Not the mansion.

Not the company.

Not revenge.

Her name.

Her innocence.

Her voice.

Months later, Olivia became the official head of Blackwood Group. At her first board meeting, some directors expected weakness. Some expected anger. Some expected a young woman desperate to prove herself.

Instead, Olivia entered calmly, placed one folder on the table, and looked around the room.

“This company nearly fell because people valued bloodlines more than honesty,” she said. “That ends today.”

No one interrupted her.

She continued, “From now on, every account will be transparent. Every signature will be verified. And anyone who thinks I returned only for inheritance may leave before I open their records.”

The room went completely silent.

Arthur smiled at the end of the table.

Olivia did not need to raise her voice.

She had already survived the worst they could do to her.

That evening, she walked with Edmund through the garden. The maple leaves moved softly in the wind.

“I don’t deserve this chance,” Edmund said.

Olivia looked ahead.

“Maybe not,” she answered. “But the truth deserves a future.”

He nodded, unable to speak.

At sunset, Olivia stood before the gates of Blackwood Manor.

Eight years ago, she had left with nothing but shame placed on her shoulders.

Now she stood there as the last heir.

But the greatest thing she inherited was not wealth.

It was the courage her mother had left inside her.

And this time, no one could take it away.
