Chapter 1: The Daughter Who Returned in the Storm

The storm arrived before Olivia Blackwood did.

Rain slammed against the windows of Blackwood Manor as the iron gates opened for the first time in eight years. Olivia stepped out of a black taxi with one suitcase in her hand and a leather folder pressed tightly against her chest.

The mansion looked exactly the same: the marble stairs, the golden lights, the portraits of ancestors who seemed to stare down at her like judges. But the girl who had once been thrown out of this house no longer existed.

She was not here to beg.

She was not here to cry.

She was here to end a lie.

The front door opened before she knocked. Standing inside was Celeste Blackwood, her stepmother, dressed in silk and diamonds as if she owned every inch of the mansion.

“Well,” Celeste said with a thin smile, “the forgotten daughter finally found her way back.”

Olivia did not answer. Her eyes moved past Celeste and froze.

Her father, Edmund Blackwood, was sitting in a wheelchair near the fireplace. His body looked thin, his face pale, and his hands trembled as if even breathing cost him strength.

“Olivia…” he whispered.

Before Olivia could step toward him, Celeste’s son, Damon, blocked her way.

“You have no right to enter this house,” Damon said. “You left this family years ago.”

Olivia slowly lifted the leather folder.

“I didn’t come back for permission,” she said. “I came back with proof.”

Celeste’s smile faded.

Olivia opened the folder and placed the first document on the table.

Bank transfers.

Medical reports.

Security records.

A will that had never been legally signed.

Then Olivia looked directly at her stepmother.

“For eight years, you called me a thief,” she said. “Tonight, everyone will learn who the real thief is.”

The room went silent.

And outside, beyond the rain, two cars stopped at the mansion gate.

The truth had arrived with her.
