Chapter 13 - The Woman Who Knew Too Much

Linda finally told Daniel what she had hidden.
Richard had been investigating the organization for years.
He had collected evidence.
He had planned to expose them.
But three days before his death, he disappeared for twelve hours.
When he returned, he told Linda one thing.
"If Daniel comes back, tell him nothing until he finds the medal."
Daniel stared at her.
"Why?"
"Because he knew someone was listening."
Daniel looked at the medal.
"The chip."
Linda nodded.
"The chip contained evidence."
"What evidence?"
"Names."
"Whose names?"
Linda's face changed.
"People who are still alive."
Daniel realized the implications.
His father had not simply left him clues.
He had built a trail.
A trail designed to survive him.
Daniel opened the recovered files again.
This time, a hidden folder appeared.
Inside was a single photograph.
Daniel recognized the man immediately.
Marcus Vale.
Beside him stood another man.
Daniel didn't recognize him.
Then Linda looked at the photograph.
Her face went white.
"That's impossible."
"Who is he?"
Linda stepped backward.
"That's your father's brother."
Daniel stared.
"My uncle?"
"You never met him."
"Why?"
"Because Richard told me he died before you were born."
Daniel looked at the photograph again.
May you like
The man was very much alive.
And standing beside Marcus.
