Chapter 14 - The Door Opens

The next morning, Vanessa walked into Coleman Holdings.
She wore an elegant black dress.
Every employee moved aside.
She entered Richard's office.
Richard was waiting.
“You came.”
Vanessa smiled.
“You finally understand.”
“What do you want?”
“Everything.”
“You can't have it.”
“I already do.”
She placed a folder on his desk.
Richard opened it.
His face went pale.
“Where did you get this?”
“From Daniel.”
Richard stared at her.
“He never gave you that.”
“He didn't have to.”
Vanessa smiled.
“You made one mistake, Richard.”
“What?”
“You thought Daniel was the only person preparing for the future.”
Meanwhile, Emily and Daniel entered an underground archive beneath an old courthouse.
Marcus followed them.
The final account was supposedly stored there.
Daniel inserted the silver key.
Nothing happened.
He tried again.
Still nothing.
Emily looked at the lock.
There was a fingerprint scanner.
Daniel placed his hand on it.
The screen flashed red.
ACCESS DENIED.
Daniel looked confused.
Emily stepped forward.
“Let me try.”
She placed her hand on the scanner.
Nothing.
Then Noah stepped forward.
“Can I?”
Emily hesitated.
Daniel stared at his son.
“Noah…”
The boy placed his hand on the scanner.
The screen turned green.
ACCESS GRANTED.
The door opened.
Everyone stared.
Inside was a single room.
At the center stood a safe.
On the safe was the silver circle.
Daniel whispered,
“I never knew.”
Emily looked at him.
“What?”
Daniel stared at the safe.
“The account was never designed for me.”
He looked at Noah.
“It was designed for him.”
Emily walked toward the safe.
A screen activated.
WELCOME, NOAH PARKER.
Then another line appeared.
BENEFICIARY VERIFIED.
Then a final message.
WAITING FOR THE SECOND AUTHORIZED PERSON.
Emily looked around.
“Who is the second person?”
The door behind them suddenly closed.
A voice came from the darkness.
“I am.”
Emily turned.
May you like
Vanessa stood there.
And beside her was Richard.
