Ryan's attorney asked for a recess again.
Judge Hale granted ten minutes.
It did not help him.
Grace had obtained the hospital records the previous afternoon.
Emily had known about the parking receipts.
She had not known Grace also obtained security confirmation.
At 2:14 in the afternoon on May 17, when the disputed email had been sent from Ryan's office, Emily appeared on hospital security footage in Louisville bringing coffee to her mother's recovery room.
At 3:05, she appeared again speaking with a nurse.
At 4:22, she signed a hospital form in person.
The genuine signature on that form differed in several small but important ways from the loan signature executed in Indianapolis.
Judge Hale reviewed everything after recess.
Ryan stopped smiling entirely.
Grace then called Daniel Price.
He explained the transfer structure.
Home equity proceeds.
Carter Development.
Cedar Ridge.
Lakeview.
Madison's investment account.
Other payments.
Ryan's attorney attempted to frame them as ordinary marital financial decisions.
Daniel answered calmly.
"Ordinary decisions are usually disclosed."
He displayed the dates.
Emily's pregnancy announcement.
Lakeview's formation three days later.
The home equity draw.
The condo purchase.
The payments to Madison.
The proposed trust collateral documents.
Then Sarah testified.
She looked terrified walking to the witness chair.
Ryan stared at her.
Emily saw Sarah's hands tremble.
Grace began gently.
"How long have you known Mr. Carter?"
"Almost seven years."
"Did you have a romantic relationship?"
"Yes."
"When?"
"It began during the first year of his marriage."
Emily looked down.
Hearing it aloud still hurt.
Sarah continued.
"I ended it after Lucy was born."
Ryan's attorney objected to details unrelated to finances.
Judge Hale allowed limited questioning.
Sarah confirmed Ryan's paternity.
The private support arrangement.
The threat of custody if she disclosed Lucy.
Then Grace showed the proposed trust documents.
"Did Mr. Carter ask you to sign these?"
"Yes."
"What did he tell you they were?"
"Updated support documents."
"Why didn't you sign?"
"Emily's name was on them."
Sarah looked toward Emily.
"And something felt wrong."
"What did Mr. Carter ask you to witness?"
Sarah swallowed.
"Emily's signature."
"Was Emily present?"
"No."
The courtroom became quiet.
Grace asked.
"Did Mr. Carter say Emily would sign later?"
Sarah shook her head.
"He said it would be handled."
Ryan closed his eyes.
Emily felt sick.
Judge Hale looked at him with visible disbelief.
Then Madison stood.
Ryan grabbed her wrist.
"Sit down."
Madison pulled away.
"Don't touch me."
Judge Hale warned both of them.
Madison looked at Ryan.
"You used my account."
He whispered.
"Madison."
"You told me the transfers were profit distributions."
Ryan's attorney looked as though he wanted the floor to open.
Grace turned.
"Ms. Blake, are you represented by counsel?"
Madison stopped.
Reality finally reached her.
"I don't know."
Judge Hale spoke firmly.
"You should consider obtaining independent legal advice before making statements concerning financial transactions."
Madison sat.
But she moved one chair away from Ryan.
Emily noticed.
So did he.
The judge reviewed the remaining materials.
Then she issued temporary findings.
The marital home would remain under restriction.
Ryan could not transfer or encumber marital assets.
Lakeview related accounts would be subject to additional disclosure.
Independent accounting would continue.
The disputed debts would not be assigned to Emily pending determination.
Ryan was ordered to provide corrected financial disclosures.
Judge Hale also directed the clerk to preserve copies of documents relating to possible forged signatures and false sworn statements for referral to appropriate authorities.
Ryan stood.
"This is insane."
His attorney grabbed his arm.
Judge Hale looked at him.
"Sit down."
Ryan did not.
"She is trying to ruin me."
Emily stared at him.
Judge Hale's voice became colder.
"Mrs. Carter did not sign your name to a loan."
Ryan's face changed.
The judge continued.
"Mrs. Carter did not omit your child from your financial disclosure."
Ryan looked toward Sarah.
"Mrs. Carter did not create Lakeview Holdings."
He looked toward Madison.
"And Mrs. Carter did not give false testimony in this courtroom ten minutes ago."
Ryan finally sat.
No one spoke.
Judge Hale turned toward Emily.
"Mrs. Carter, I understand you are close to your delivery date."
"Yes, Your Honor."
"We are going to set a schedule that does not require you to choose between medical care and litigation."
Emily's throat tightened.
"Thank you."
The hearing ended shortly after.
Outside the courtroom, reporters were not waiting.
There was no dramatic crowd.
No applause.
No instant victory.
Real destruction rarely looked cinematic afterward.
It looked like paperwork.
Exhaustion.
People standing awkwardly in hallways.
Lucy held Sarah's hand.
Madison disappeared into an elevator without Ryan.
Ryan stood with his attorney near the opposite wall.
Then he walked toward Emily.
Grace immediately stepped forward.
Ryan stopped.
He looked at Emily's stomach.
For several seconds he said nothing.
Then he whispered.
"You destroyed everything."
Emily looked at him.
"No."
