CHAPTER 3: The Gender Reveal That Exposed Everything

On the day of the party, Ryan believed everything was still under his control.

He wore a navy blue suit, his hair neatly styled, his smile flawless. He walked around the backyard greeting guests, put his arm around Amelia, and kissed her forehead in front of the cameras.

“Are you okay?” he asked.

Amelia smiled.

“Very okay.”

Ryan did not know that inside Amelia’s small bag was a copy of all the evidence Clara had given her.

He did not know that her father had quietly invited the family lawyer to stand among the guests.

He did not know that her mother had ordered someone to check the gate cameras.

He did not know that one of the guests was a journalist close to the Whitmore family, attending only as an old friend but ready to record everything if Amelia gave the signal.

Amelia did not want to turn her pain into entertainment.

But she also did not want Ryan to keep performing.

When the host invited the couple to stand in front of the giant balloon, all the guests began applauding.

Ryan held the silver pin and turned to Amelia.

“My love, I have waited so long for this moment.”

Amelia looked at him.

For one second, she wished it was all a misunderstanding.

She wished Ryan truly was the man she had loved.

She wished the baby in her belly would not have to be part of such a painful truth before even being born.

But then the gate opened.

Clara walked in.

And everything unfolded like a storm.

“Are you really about to celebrate becoming a father again?”

Noah called Ryan daddy.

Lily cried in Clara’s arms.

The guests froze.

Ryan tried to regain control. He looked around and realized dozens of eyes were fixed on him. His expression quickly changed from panic to anger.

“Are you insane?” he shouted at Clara. “Who let you in here? Where is security?”

Amelia stepped forward.

“I let her in.”

Ryan turned sharply toward her.

“Amelia, listen to me. She is my ex. She is obsessed with me. She wants money.”

Clara held Lily tighter.

“I have never asked you for a single cent for myself.”

Ryan pointed at her.

“Shut up!”

Noah flinched and stepped back.

Amelia saw it.

She saw a child afraid of his own father.

And the last piece of love she had for Ryan shattered.

Amelia raised her hand.

The housekeeper stepped forward and handed her a small remote. The large screen behind the dessert table, which had originally been prepared to show the baby’s ultrasound video, suddenly lit up.

The first image was Ryan holding newborn Noah in the hospital.

Whispers spread across the yard.

Ryan froze.

Then came the messages.

How is our son today?

I miss Noah so much.

When Lily is born, I promise I’ll be by your side.

Then came birth records, hospital documents, Noah’s birthday video, and the recording of Ryan threatening Clara not to appear.

With every piece of evidence, Ryan’s face grew paler.

He rushed forward, trying to snatch the remote from Amelia’s hand, but her father stepped in front of him.

Edward Whitmore looked at Ryan with eyes so cold no one dared to speak.

“Step back,” he said.

Ryan clenched his jaw.

“Dad, this is not what everyone thinks.”

Edward gave a cold smile.

“Do not call me Dad.”

Ryan turned to Amelia, lowering his voice, softening it the way he always had before.

“Amelia, I was wrong for not telling you. But my love for you is real. I was just afraid of losing you. I didn’t know what to do.”

Amelia looked at him, and tears finally fell.

“You weren’t afraid of losing me,” she said. “You were afraid of losing this life.”

Ryan froze.

“That’s not true…”

“You abandoned two children. You threatened their mother. You used my love to enter my family. You lied every day, even when you placed your hand on my belly and called my child the greatest gift of your life.”

Her voice trembled, but every word was clear.

“Ryan, you are not a man who made a mistake. You are a man who kept choosing wrong again and again, as long as it benefited you.”

Ryan went silent.

Because for the first time, he could not find beautiful words to cover the truth.

Amelia’s mother stepped forward and placed a coat around her daughter’s shoulders.

“Come inside and rest.”

But Amelia shook her head.

“Not yet.”

She turned to Clara.

“Ms. Mason, I’m sorry.”

Clara was surprised.

“You don’t need to apologize to me.”

“Yes, I do. Because I lived in comfort while not knowing these two children were being abandoned out there. I am not guilty for being deceived, but from today on, I am responsible for not allowing silence to keep protecting him.”

Clara burst into tears.

Noah still stood nearby, his eyes full of fear. Amelia slowly bent down, keeping enough distance so the boy would not panic.

“Noah,” she said gently, “you did nothing wrong.”

The boy looked at her.

“Is Daddy angry at me?”

That question made many people choke back tears.

Ryan turned his face away.

Amelia wiped her tears and smiled at Noah.

“No. When adults do wrong, adults must take responsibility. Not children.”

Then she stood and looked at Ryan.

“My lawyer will contact you. From today on, you will leave my house, leave my family’s company, and prepare to take responsibility for everything you have done.”

Ryan truly panicked.

“Amelia, you can’t do this. I’m your husband. We have a child together.”

“Because of my child,” Amelia said, “I cannot allow them to grow up beside a father who treats lies like instinct.”

Ryan looked around at the guests, hoping someone would help him.

But no one stood by him.

In the end, security escorted Ryan out of the backyard.

He was no longer the elegant man at the center of the party.

He was only a man dragged down from the stage of lies he had built for himself.

As Ryan passed the black balloon, he stopped and looked at Amelia one last time.

“You will regret this,” he said quietly.

Amelia did not answer.

Edward stepped forward, his voice low and clear.

“The one who will regret this is you. And this time, no one in my family will pay to clean up your mess.”

Ryan left.

The gate closed behind him.

The party that was supposed to reveal the baby’s gender had become the day a man’s mask was torn off.

But Amelia did not let it end there.

She walked toward the black balloon.

Everyone looked at her in surprise.

Her mother quickly said:

“Amelia, you don’t have to continue.”

Amelia placed a hand on her belly.

“No,” she said softly. “My child should not be remembered only by the day their father was exposed. Today is still my baby’s day.”

She picked up the silver pin Ryan had dropped earlier.

But before she popped the balloon, she turned to Clara.

“Would you stand with me?”

Clara was stunned.

“Me?”

“You are a mother too. And today, every child here deserves to see something good after what just happened.”

Clara held Lily and led Noah to stand beside Amelia.

The two women stood in front of the giant balloon.

One was the legal wife who had been betrayed.

One was the abandoned mother.

But in that moment, they did not stand against each other as enemies.

They stood beside each other as two women reclaiming the truth from a liar.

Amelia pushed the pin into the balloon.

Pop.

Pink paper flew into the sky.

A baby girl.

As the pink pieces fluttered down, Amelia began to cry.

This time, not because of Ryan.

But because of her daughter.

Because the child about to be born would not have to live in a family built on lies.

Noah looked at the pink paper and then looked up.

“The baby is a girl?”

Amelia nodded.

“Yes.”

Noah hesitated.

“So… is the baby my sister?”

That question left Amelia speechless.

Clara quickly tugged his hand.

“Noah…”

But Amelia bent down and looked at the boy for a long moment.

By blood, yes, the baby in her belly was Noah and Lily’s half-sister. That truth was painful, but children were not guilty of the chaos adults created.

Amelia gently said:

“She will be your sister. But that doesn’t mean you have to understand everything today. You only need to know that you are not abandoned.”

Noah lowered his head, tears falling down his cheeks.

“Does Daddy not need me anymore?”

Amelia felt her heart ache.

Clara pulled her son into her arms, but she was crying too.

Edward looked at the scene, his eyes red.

He turned to his assistant.

“Prepare a car. Take Ms. Mason and the children to one of our hotels to rest. Arrange doctors to check on the children. And call the legal team.”

Clara quickly shook her head.

“No, I can’t accept—”

Edward interrupted her, but his voice was not arrogant.

“This is not charity. This is what should be done. Ryan used my family’s name to pressure you. My family will not allow that to continue.”

Clara looked at Amelia.

Amelia nodded.

“Let the children rest first. We will deal with everything else slowly.”

Clara held Lily, took Noah’s hand, and bowed deeply.

“Thank you.”

Amelia replied:

“Don’t thank me too soon. I am not a saint. I am still hurt, still angry, and still unsure how I will face tomorrow. But I know one thing.”

May you like

She looked at Noah and Lily.

“No child should pay the price for an adult’s cowardice.”
