Camila sat behind him, wearing black and staring at Valerie as though she were responsible for every consequence they faced.Valerie sat beside Helen.She wore the same silver key necklace.The case did not depend on one dramatic piece of evidence.It depended on a pattern.The building manager testified about Diego’s attempt to gain unauthorized access.The notary admitted he had prepared the transfer documents based on false information provided by Camila and Diego.Nora submitted the call recording.The office security footage showed Camila threatening Valerie after the arrest.Then Rafael’s video was played.The courtroom watched Diego stand over Valerie.They heard him order her to sign.They saw him knock the glass away.They saw him pick up the plate.Even knowing what would happen, Valerie flinched when it left his hand.The sound of it breaking filled the courtroom.Diego’s attorney argued that he had thrown it toward the wall, not at Valerie.The judge watched the video again.“The plate passed within inches of her head,” she said. “The distinction you are attempting to create is not persuasive.”Rafael testified next.Diego stared at him throughout the questioning.“Why did you begin recording?” Helen asked.“Because I knew they planned to pressure Valerie.”“Did you expect violence?”Rafael hesitated.“I knew Diego had a temper.”“Had you seen him behave aggressively before?”“Yes.”“Did you ever intervene?”“No.”“Why not?”Rafael looked toward Valerie.“Because it was easier to call it a private matter.”Sofia was the final family witness.Her hands shook when she took the stand, but her voice remained clear.She described the planned dinner and Diego’s certainty that Valerie would surrender under public pressure.“Did Valerie ever agree to give Camila the apartment?” Helen asked.“No.”“Did the family know she had refused?”“Yes.”“Then what was the purpose of inviting twenty relatives and presenting prepared documents?”“To make her feel alone.”The words silenced the room.Diego’s defense collapsed beneath the testimony of his own relatives.The court extended Valerie’s protection order and imposed legal consequences for Diego’s assaultive conduct. The separate divorce ruling confirmed that the apartment belonged solely to Valerie.Additional investigations into the family business uncovered financial misconduct unrelated to Valerie. Camila had used foundation money for private expenses, while Diego had approved false invoices connected to renovations he planned for the apartment.The restaurant board permanently removed both of them from leadership.Several family members who had protected Diego for years suddenly claimed they had always been concerned.Valerie no longer cared.Outside the courthouse, reporters waited behind a barrier.Camila approached Valerie before security could stop her.“You could have handled this privately,” she hissed.Valerie looked at the woman who had once controlled every room she entered.“I tried handling it privately. That is where your family hid everything.”Camila’s face trembled with fury.“You will regret humiliating us.”“No,” Valerie said. “You regret that witnesses finally told the truth.”She walked past her without looking back.
