Garrett’s attorneys claimed Elena had invented the accusations to destroy him during a bitter marriage.
The recordings ended that argument.
Medical experts confirmed that the false medication could have caused Elena’s death.
Bank investigators traced the missing funds through nine shell companies.
Security footage showed Brenda entering the doctor’s office with an envelope of cash.
Auction records proved Tiffany had attempted to sell Elena’s jewelry.
The doctor who had forged Elena’s medical letters accepted a plea agreement and testified against the Sullivan family.
Garrett refused every offer.
He believed he could charm a jury.
He wore tailored suits and looked directly at Elena whenever she testified.
His attorney asked why she had waited before escaping.
Elena answered calmly.
“Because I knew he would say I was confused. I needed evidence strong enough that he could never do this to another person.”
The courtroom became completely silent.
After three weeks, the jury returned.
Garrett was convicted of conspiracy, attempted financial exploitation, unlawful administration of controlled medication, forgery and multiple counts of fraud.
Brenda was convicted for her role in arranging the medication and forged medical reports.
Tiffany received a reduced sentence after cooperating, but she was still convicted of theft and conspiracy.
Garrett was sentenced to decades in prison.
As officers led him away, he looked at Elena.
“You’ll regret this.”
Elena did not respond.
Outside the courthouse, reporters surrounded her.
They asked whether justice had been served.
