Chapter 3 - The Signature

Sienna stared at the document.
Julian's signature appeared at the bottom.
Above it was the name of a company she had never seen before.
Northstar Meridian LLC.
The same company receiving millions from Richardson Maritime.
"What did he transfer?"
Kira's expression hardened.
"According to this filing, forty-nine percent of Richardson Maritime's intellectual property, contracts and operating rights."
Charles suddenly stepped forward.
"Give me that."
Kira closed the case.
"No."
Charles looked toward Julian.
"What did you do?"
Julian said nothing.
Eleanor grabbed his arm.
"Julian?"
"I was protecting us."
"From what?"
His eyes moved toward Sienna.
"From her."
The words landed harder than the martini.
Sienna stared at him.
"You knew?"
"Not everything."
"How much?"
Julian swallowed.
"I knew Vantage was buying our debt."
"How?"
Silence.
Then Charles answered for him.
"Because we have friends."
Sienna understood.
Someone inside Vantage had been leaking confidential information.
The foreclosure had been compromised before she stepped onto the yacht.
Kira seemed to reach the same conclusion.
She took out her phone.
"Lock every executive account."
Sienna raised a hand.
"Wait."
Kira stopped.
Sienna looked at Julian.
"Who owns Northstar Meridian?"
He smiled nervously.
"Doesn't matter."
"It matters enough for you to move company assets into it."
"My family built Richardson Maritime."
"And borrowed against it."
"We were going to recover."
"By hiding assets from creditors?"
Eleanor stepped between them.
"You have no right to interrogate my son."
Sienna looked at her.
"I own sixty-three percent of your secured debt."
Eleanor's face changed.
Sienna continued.
"The yacht beneath your feet is collateral."
Charles stopped smiling.
"The estate in Southampton is collateral."
Eleanor's lips parted.
"The Richardson Maritime headquarters is collateral."
Julian stood.
Sienna took one step toward him.
"And if the Northstar transfer constitutes fraudulent conveyance, everything you moved can be clawed back."
For the first time, Julian looked genuinely afraid.
Then he said something Sienna hadn't expected.
"You can't claw back something that doesn't belong to Northstar anymore."
Kira froze.
Sienna turned toward her.
"What does he mean?"
Kira immediately began scrolling through her tablet.
Seconds later, she stopped.
"Sienna."
"What?"
"Northstar transferred the assets again."
"To whom?"
May you like
Kira slowly raised her eyes.
"Vantage Capital."
