The Mother Discovers a Horrifying Secret Before the Wedding

OPENING CLIMAX

“Impossible…”

Helena Whitmore’s voice was nothing more than a broken breath trapped in her throat.

Her hand gripped the edge of the carved wooden door. Before her, the bride’s room door was left slightly open. Warm golden light spilled through the narrow crack into the marble hallway, making everything look elegant, luxurious, and perfect for a wedding day.

But what Helena had just seen inside made her entire world collapse.

Vivian — her son’s future bride — was standing in front of the mirror in a pure white wedding dress. Beside her stood a man in a black suit, his face half-hidden in the shadows.

“As long as he drinks that glass of wine after the ceremony,” the man said quietly, “everything will go exactly as planned. The transfer documents are ready. When Gabriel wakes up, he will have nothing left.”

Vivian let out a soft laugh.

“By then,” she said, “the Whitmore family will finally know what it feels like to lose everything.”

Helena stepped back, her heart pounding.

On the table was a crystal glass marked with a small silver ribbon — the same color as the glass the waiter would bring to Gabriel during the wedding toast.

Helena turned and ran.

The wedding music was still echoing from the grand hall. Guests were still laughing. White flowers still covered the aisle. Candles still glowed on every table.

But Helena knew one thing.

Her son was in danger.

She found Gabriel standing in front of the wedding hall, dressed in a perfect black suit.

“Gabriel…”

He turned around.

“Mother?”

Her lips trembled.

“You have to listen to me. Do not go in there. Do not marry her.”

The people around them immediately fell silent.

Helena gripped his arm.

“In the bride’s room… Vivian is deceiving you. She wants to hurt you. There was a man in there. They were talking about contracts, about a glass of wine, about taking everything from you.”

She thought Gabriel would panic.

But he did nothing.

He simply looked at her.

Then slowly, he smiled.

A smile so cold that Helena felt her heart tighten.

“Mother,” he said softly, “I know.”

Helena froze.

“You… know?”

Gabriel calmly adjusted the button of his suit.

“Yes. I have known for a while.”

“If you know, then why are you still letting this wedding happen?”

The doors of the wedding hall were about to open.

Gabriel looked straight into his mother’s eyes.

“Because I want everything to end right here at this wedding.”

Helena felt her legs weaken.

“Gabriel, what are you planning to do?”

He placed a gentle hand on her shoulder.

“This time, Mother, don’t be afraid. I am not the one being deceived. The one being deceived… is her.”

The doors opened.

Hundreds of guests turned toward the groom.

And Gabriel Whitmore walked into the wedding hall with a calm smile, while Helena stood behind him, her heart pounding, not knowing what secret her son had been hiding.
