Chapter 5 - The Name Beneath the Signature)

Daniel revealed that Elena's father had spent years building a private financial structure designed to protect his daughter.
Julian's family had wanted access to it.
But Elena's father refused.
The conflict destroyed the partnership.
Then came the night Elena's father died.
Officially, it was an accident.
Daniel had never believed that.
"Your father was investigating someone," he said.
"Who?"
Daniel looked at her.
"The person who now controls Julian."
Elena frowned.
"Julian controls his own company."
Daniel shook his head.
"No."
He placed an old contract on the table.
"Someone has controlled it for years."
Elena read the signature.
The name was unfamiliar.
But the initials were not.
J.C.
Julian Carter.
She stared at it.
"That's Julian."
"Yes."
"But this document is fifteen years old."
Daniel nodded.
"Exactly."
Elena looked at Margaret.
"How old was Julian fifteen years ago?"
"Twenty-three."
Elena felt dizzy.
"He couldn't have owned a multinational company at twenty-three."
"He didn't."
Daniel pointed to another signature.
"He was the front."
"For whom?"
Daniel hesitated.
Then he said the name.
"Your father's brother."
Elena went still.
"My uncle died before I was born."
May you like
Daniel shook his head.
"That's what everyone was told."
