THE STRANGE BOY MAKES THE BILLIONAIRE IN A WHEELCHAIR STAND UP

OPENING CLIMAX

“You only need to do one thing.”

The boy’s voice echoed through the snow-white ballroom, soft but clear enough to silence more than two hundred wealthy guests.

Marcus Hale sat motionless in his silver-plated wheelchair beneath the crystal chandeliers. His dark blue suit was perfectly tailored, his expensive watch gleaming under the golden light, but his face was cold and unreadable.

Around him stood politicians, famous doctors, investors, models, and reporters. Wine glasses froze in midair. Polite smiles disappeared.

No one understood how an eight-year-old boy in a beige shirt, light shorts, and worn-out shoes had managed to pass security and stand in front of the most powerful billionaire in the city.

Marcus Hale had been in a wheelchair for eleven years.

People said he had been paralyzed after a terrible accident.

People said he would never walk again.

People said pain had turned him into a cold, arrogant man who trusted no one.

But the boy only looked straight into Marcus’s eyes and said:

“I know you are not what they said you are.”

The entire room fell silent.

Marcus tightened his grip on the wheelchair armrests.

“Get him out of here.”

Behind him, Victor Lang — Marcus’s personal adviser — immediately stepped forward. For eleven years, Victor had controlled Marcus’s schedule, fortune, doctors, medicine, and almost his entire life.

But the moment the boy appeared, Victor’s calm expression cracked.

Only for one second.

The boy saw it.

He stepped closer.

Marcus said coldly:

“Don’t come near me.”

The boy stopped less than a step away from the wheelchair.

“You’re afraid of me.”

Marcus laughed quietly.

“Afraid of a child?”

“No,” the boy said. “You’re afraid I might be right.”

Then the boy bent down and placed one finger lightly on Marcus’s knee.

Victor shouted:

“Stop!”

But it was too late.

Beneath Marcus’s expensive suit pants, his right leg trembled.

A guest dropped a glass.

The sound of shattered glass rang across the marble floor.

Marcus looked down.

His eyes widened.

Not because of pain.

Because of feeling.

A feeling he had not had for eleven years.

The boy looked up at him.

“You only need to do one thing.”

Marcus breathed heavily.

“What thing?”

The boy answered:

“Try.”

Marcus placed both hands on the armrests.

The whole ballroom held its breath.

He pushed himself up.

His body trembled. Sweat appeared on his temple. His legs shook weakly beneath him — but they responded.

Marcus lifted himself from the wheelchair.

Only a little.

Only for a moment.

But enough to make the entire ballroom freeze.

Victor shouted:

“Sit down immediately! You’ll hurt yourself!”

Marcus turned and looked at him.

For the first time in eleven years, suspicion filled his eyes.

“What is happening?”

The boy stood beside him and said calmly:

“They’ve been lying to you for eleven years.”

That sentence fell into the ballroom like a bomb.

And that night, all the secrets buried inside Hale Hospital began to rise to the surface.
