Nathan reopened Elias's death file. The body had been cremated within six hours, and the attending physician later received a large payment from an Arbor shell company. Dental records belonged to another patient. Elias had not necessarily died. He may have become the unseen voice directing Vanessa.
No one in the room said what they were all thinking: the enemy had access not only to records, but to habits, fears, and private weaknesses.
