THE LITTLE GIRL RAN INTO THE WEDDING AND CALLED THE BRIDE MOMMY
“Mommy… don’t marry him.”
That sentence echoed through the grand wedding hall like a shattered bell.
Every guest froze.
Beneath the glittering crystal chandelier, Isabella stood motionless in her pure white wedding dress. A delicate veil rested over her hair, and her lips had just parted to say the words “I do” when they suddenly stiffened.
In front of her, Adrian Harrington — the wealthy, composed man admired by the entire city — stared at her in disbelief.
Beside them, the priest was still holding the wedding book in his hands. He looked at the six-year-old girl clinging tightly to Isabella’s dress, then looked back at the bride, unsure whether to continue or stop.
The little girl wore a simple white dress. Her long hair was slightly messy, and her face was soaked with tears. Her tiny hands gripped the fabric of Isabella’s wedding gown as if the moment she let go, she would lose Isabella forever.
“Mommy…” the little girl sobbed. “You promised you wouldn’t leave me…”
A wave of whispers spread through the wedding hall.
“Who is that child?”
“Why is she calling the bride mommy?”
“Does the bride already have a child?”
“Does the Harrington family know about this?”
Behind the groom, Grace Harrington — Adrian’s mother — stepped forward. She was dressed in an elegant cream-colored formal outfit, her face as cold as stone. Her sharp eyes fixed on the little girl before shifting to Isabella.
“Isabella,” she said, her voice low but loud enough for many guests to hear, “what is going on?”
Isabella lowered her gaze to the little girl. Tears filled her eyes, but her throat felt sealed shut. She wanted to speak. She wanted to explain. But under hundreds of staring eyes, in front of the man who was about to become her husband, all she could do was reach down with trembling fingers and touch the little girl’s hair.
Adrian took half a step back.
“Isabella,” he asked, his voice rough, “how long have you been hiding this from me?”
The entire hall fell completely silent.
The little girl held Isabella even tighter.
“Don’t let that woman take me away,” she cried. “I’m scared…”
That second sentence drained all color from Isabella’s face.
And Grace’s expression changed instantly.

For one very brief moment, the strict look on her face turned into panic.
And Adrian saw it.
