CHAPTER 3: THE BOARDROOM EXPLOSION
On the morning Ryan was supposed to become chairman, the entire company was watching.
Reporters waited downstairs. Board members gathered in the luxury conference room. The chairman appointment document was placed on the table. William stood proudly beside Ryan, ready to pass the throne to his favorite son.
Ethan sat quietly near the end of the table.
Everyone thought he had accepted defeat.
They were wrong.
William began his speech about legacy, loyalty, and family. Then he picked up the golden pen.
“With this signature,” he said, “Ryan Alexander Grant will become the next chairman of Grant Global Holdings.”
Before the pen touched the paper, Ethan stood.
He slammed his hand on the table.
“Dad, you must leave the chairman’s seat today.”
The room froze.
William slowly looked up.
“You dare betray your own father?”
Ryan stood immediately, pointing at Ethan.
“Money has blinded you!”
Ethan looked at his younger brother for a brief second. Ryan did not know the truth. He had been raised inside William’s lies.
But Ethan could not stop now.
He walked to the black steel safe in the corner.
William’s face changed.
For the first time, the powerful chairman looked afraid.
Ethan opened the safe and took out the old contract folder. When he placed it in front of William, the board members leaned forward in shock.
Then Ethan said:
“I’m not stealing the company. I’m taking back what you stole from my mother.”
Ryan stared at him.
“What are you talking about?”
Ethan opened the folder.
The first page showed Grace Whitmore Grant’s name.
Then Ethan revealed the documents one by one: the original business model, the early investment records, client letters addressed to Grace, and the hidden contract that had stripped her of everything.
Daniel Reeves, a senior board member who had known the truth for years, finally stood up.
“Grace Whitmore Grant did not abandon this company,” he said. “She was pushed out.”
Ryan turned to William.
“Dad?”
William did not answer.
That silence was enough.
The boardroom began to shift.
People who had once feared William now looked at him with suspicion. The man who had built his empire on control was losing control in front of everyone.
Ethan pointed to the contract.
“If this appointment continues today, the last legal path to restore my mother’s rights may be buried forever. I’m not stopping Ryan. I’m stopping another cover-up.”
The board voted to suspend the appointment.
William Grant was removed from the decision.
