The Bride Locks the Child Inside the Mansion

“Who locked you in there?”

Daniel’s voice rang through the wedding hall, low and cold enough to make the entire mansion fall silent.

Every guest turned toward the hallway behind the ceremony room. Beneath the glittering crystal chandeliers, Daniel stood in his white wedding suit, holding his six-year-old son tightly in his arms.

Ethan was trembling. His face was covered in tears, both hands clutching his father’s collar as if he feared that the moment he let go, he would be dragged back into that dark room again.

Red marks were still visible on his small wrists from pounding on the door for too long. His polished shoes were dusty, his black bow tie hung crooked, and his neatly combed blond hair was now messy from fear.

Daniel lowered his head and looked at his son.

“Ethan, tell me. Who locked the door?”

The boy did not answer immediately.

His tear-filled eyes slowly moved past his father’s shoulder and landed on the woman standing in the middle of the wedding aisle.

The bride.

Isabella.

She was still wearing her luxurious white wedding dress, the long train spreading across the marble floor. Just minutes earlier, she had walked down the aisle under the applause of the guests, looking like the happiest woman in the world.

But now, her smile had disappeared.

Daniel’s voice turned even colder.

“Isabella, you told me Ethan was resting.”

No one in the wedding hall dared to breathe too loudly.

Isabella tightened her grip around her bridal bouquet. The white petals bent beneath her fingers, but she still tried to keep her voice gentle.

“Daniel, I don’t know what happened. Maybe he was playing around and got himself trapped in there…”

Ethan immediately shook his head, tears falling again.

“No! She locked me in!”

Shocked whispers spread through the hall.

Isabella’s face turned pale.

Daniel bent down, his voice softening as he spoke to his son.

“Calm down. I’m here now. Tell me what you saw.”

Ethan trembled as he pointed at the bride.

“I saw her hiding Mom’s box… and she said after the wedding, I wouldn’t get to stay with you anymore.”

Daniel froze.

Mom’s box.

It was the small wooden box Daniel’s late wife, Amelia, had left behind for Ethan before she passed away. Inside were handwritten letters, a silver necklace, and the final recording she had made for her son.

Isabella should never have known about that box.

Unless she had searched through his study.

Daniel turned toward the woman he had almost called his wife only minutes ago.

“What did you do?”

Isabella opened her mouth, but no words came out.

At that moment, Daniel’s mother, Margaret, stepped forward. In her hand was a phone.

“Daniel,” she said coldly, “I think you need to see this.”

She played a video from the security camera in the side hallway.

On the screen, Isabella appeared clearly. She was pulling Ethan down the corridor, bending down to say something to him, then opening the door to the small room behind the library.

Ethan stepped back, but she grabbed his hand, pushed him inside, shut the door, and turned the key.

Then Isabella looked around to make sure no one had seen her before slipping the key into the pocket of her wedding dress.

No one in the hall could speak anymore.

Daniel looked at the video, then looked at Isabella.

This time, there was no gentleness left in his eyes.

“The wedding ends here.”

Isabella took a step back.

“Daniel, let me explain…”

“No.” Daniel held Ethan closer. “A woman who can lock a six-year-old child inside a dark room to hide a secret does not deserve to enter my family.”

Isabella stood among hundreds of white flowers, wearing a wedding dress worth a fortune.

But for the first time, she no longer looked like a bride.

May you like

She looked like someone who had just lost everything.

And that was only the beginning.
